Evolution of tools

Neolithic
construction
Some of the tools used in the
age is a hand axe, stone axe
with a wooden handle, a sickle,
and bone tools.
The hand axe is used for cutting
small trees, wheat , meat, etc.
The stone axe is used for cutting
bigger sticks and meat, etc
The sickle is used for harvesting
crops and thatching materials.
The bone tools can even be
used for eating utensils, for
hunting tools, needles ,and even
fish hooks!

Copper and Bronze age


construction

Copper was used in 5,000 BC and


bronze around 3,100 BC. Bronze is
made when tin is added.
Copper and bronze were made into
the same kind of tools such as axes
and chisels, another copper tool is
also a saw.

Iron age construction

The iron age was started around


1200 BC to 50 BC for using iron for
weapons and tools. Iron is like steel,
steel can be hardened and
sharpened for a nice cutting edge.

Medieval construction

The medieval construction age


started from the 5th to the 15th AD,
this age in construction started
when the roman era ended but the
roman building techniques were lost.

A revival of stone buildings in the


9th century and the Roman style of
architecture began in the late 11th
century.

Construction in the
Renaissance

Construction in the renaissance


started around the Middle Ages.
Master carpenters learnt their trades
to build weapons and buildings.
A tools that was used in the
renaissance age was a saw. Helped
build houses by sawing wood and
more!

Construction in the
seventeenth century

The seventeenth century started


when the modern day science
started.

A few tools used in the seventeenth


century are line gauge (ruler), a
carpenters square, a sprit level and
a drafting compass. Can be used to
make frames, and wooden boxes.

Construction in the
eighteenth century

The eighteenth century started


when the development of many the
ideas had started which was in the
late seventeenth century.
Some tools used in this century are
coade stone which used as an
artificial stone in the UK. Used to
make stone monuments.

Construction in the
nineteenth century:
Industrial Revolution

This industrial revolution was started


for new kinds of transportation such
as railroads, and canals
The tools used to build rail roads and
canals are the circular saw.

Construction in the
twentieth century

The second industrial revolution in


the early 20th century, elevators
and cranes made taller buildings
easier to build and make
skyscrapers possible to build.
