P.168 para 2
I found it interesting that the participants
resisted using terms that conveyed external definition and
identity categories to describe their core sense of self. It is
very easy to rely on things that you have heard about yourself
from others. Personally, I have used terms to describe myself
that have been very apparent to people close to me
throughout my life.

P.169 para 3
I thought it was important that the study
mentioned that the location of the dots in the identity
dimension circles would be different for the individual based
on the saliency of that attribute to that individual at that
specific period in time. It was interesting that race was found
to very salient to one group of women, but not to another.
Depending on the past experiences of these participants and
the things they currently identify as important, identity can be
framed in many different ways and can change over time, even
short period of time depending on the events in that
individuals life.
