PLEASE INCLUDE THE SYSTEM AND THE PROCESS MODELS WHENEVER APPLICABLE
IN YOUR ANSWER, ALSO MAKE A TABLE OF PROPERTIES RELEVANT TO YOUR WORK.
1. A refrigeration system using R-12, consists of :
- One condenser Tc = 500C, the exit refrigerant of it is 5 K sub cooled.
- Two evaporators (A) : (Te)a = -200C, Qa = 2 kW, the exit refrigerant of it is 10 K superheated
and evaporator (B) : (Te)b = +100C, Qb = 3kW the exit refrigerant of it is 15 K super heated.
- One flash tank at +100C, both evaporators are fed from this tank, and one compressor.
- You may add other devices to enable the system to perform satisfactorily.
Find :
- The power required for the system
- The COP of the system
- Rate of volume flow at the suction of the compressor
2. A refrigeration systems using R-22 as refrigerant and R-502 as power fluid, its operational
condition is as follows : Te = -200C, Tc = 500C. If the spring pressure is 115 kPa and the pressure
drop in the evaporator = 100 kPa, find :
a. The superheat at the exit of the evaporator, if the above TXV is internally connected
b. The superheat at the exit of the evaporator, if the above TXV is externally connected
It is required that the superheat temperature must be at least 7 K.
If the evaporating temperature is changed to -25 0C, can these TXVs operate properly, if so what
will be the superheat temperature, for
c. Internally connected TXV
d. Externally connected TXV
If the evaporating temperature is changed to +5 0C, can these TXVs operate properly, if so what
will be the superheat temperature, for
e. Internally connected TXV
f. Externally connected TXV
