Job Description

JOB TITLE:

Market Research and Community Engagement Interviewer

Main Purpose

Carrying out interviews, to residents and others across the borough, assessing attitudes
and experiences, and informing people about the councils ideas and plans relating to a
wide range of subjects from crime to community safety to local parks, new developments
and housing.
Main Duties
1. Undertake interviews, using surveys to assess a range of experiences and attitudes relating
to a diverse range of subjects.
2. Contact residents, businesses and others to communicate the councils ideas and plans
through a range of methods, which may include a direct approach in the street, at events, or
at their home address or contacting them by telephone.
3. Arrange interviews with residents and others, through a range of methods, which may
include a direct approach in the street, at events or at their home address or contacting
them by telephone.
4. Provide resident with a clear introduction and a brief description of the interview, outlining
how the research will be used.
5. Clearly explain to residents and others the councils ideas and plans and why the council is
contacting them.
6. Seek clear comments from the interviewee to gauge their attitude to particular issues,
recording their responses on the appropriate forms.
7. Collating survey results so they can be used by the organisation.
8. Maintain accurate and detailed records on the appropriate resources, which on occasion
may include data entry onto a computer.
9. Some involvement in recruiting volunteers for focus groups and other in-depth research may
feature.
10. To carry out responsibilities at all times with due regard to Equal Opportunities, the Data
Protection Act and the maintenance of confidentiality and service user choice.
