Anthropometry (Drillis & Contini) Laboratory

Purpose:
Through this lab, you should gain an understanding of how anthropometric data
is collected and analyzed. You will also compare using anthropometric measures
with the Drillis & Contini Theorem.
Equipment:
Large anthropometer, yardstick, or tape measure
Pencil, pen, or small ruler
Digital camera
Drillis & Contini Theorem
Procedure:
Subjects
1. Decide on the number of subjects. (Must justify why you use that number
through review or statistical considerations)
2. Decide on inclusion/ exclusion criteria for the subjects.
3. In order to ensure that the subjects are not duplicated, it is recommended
that the name be noted down. Do you think that this is a good idea? What
other alternatives are there?
4. Obtained written informed consent from the subjects.
Data acquisition
1. Find out the proper procedure to acquire the anthropometric
measurements of interest.
2. It should be noted that the body position is different for optimal
measurement of different parts of the body.
3. Collect all your data and tabulate them in a proper table.
Theoretical values
1. Search for the Drillis and Contini theorem.
2. Collect the data required for computation of theoretical value obtained
from Drillis & Contini theorem.
Results:
1. Find out how anthropometric data is collected and analyze. Follow their
methods.
2. Compare your results with the ones obtained from Drillis & Contini
theorem as well as another theorem.
3. Use appropriate statistics to process your data.
4. Use proper tables and figures to illustrate your results.
Discussion:
1. Discussed on your findings as compared to theoretical findings.
2. Discussed your results as compared to other similar work.
3. Discuss possible drawbacks on your experimental protocol.
4. Discuss possible improvements.
