Activity one:
Information gap
(Tell me where is furniture?) (Resourses for teacher)

Students Level: the activity allows students to remember the preposition

vocabulary by discovering the place of the furniture which that is interested


and fun. It is appropriate for grade three and four.
Justification for choosing Activity:
The activity is focusing on speaking and listening to guess the answer to
finding the furniture. It is suitable for grade three and four according to the
curriculum of Ministry in the UAE. This activity engages the child to speak
through describing the picture which it helps him to think before he talks,
repeating again and again which is necessary to drum the vocabulary in the
child's brain. It opens the child imagination to imagine the final picture of
room so that encourages the child to focuses and concentrates, and visualmentally coordination through looking at the picture and speaking as a
result, increase the students talking time. Moreover, this activity challenges
the child to concentrate on his friend, as a result, to win. It motivates the
child to communicate with others, share things together and view his
sentences and new words consequently; he could establish a successful
relationship more easily through the activity. This activity teaches the child
many concepts like; respecting by listening to each other, patient and not
interrupting his friend to say the answer directly. Moreover, it is reinforcing
conceptual development by recognizing the place of furniture in the room. As
a result child could follow the direction when he listens to his partner, pay
attention that improves competence and performing of listening which that
help the child to save what he listen then use it later in speaking when
switching the role. Additionally, the child can improve his reading and writing
when they write the place of the furniture in the end. Teacher can make
differentiation with this activity for instance; for low level, give a card
description with the picture of furniture in the room, medium level; give a
card description without the picture of furniture in the room, high level; doing
the activity without using the card.
Objectives of the activity:
By completing the activities, the student will be able to:
1 Record his or her knowledge using questions.
2 Obtain information about preposition.
3 Collect new Vocabulary.
4 Follow directions by listening due to making sentences.
5 Improve the childs writing.
The purpose of activity:
1 Encourage the child to communicate.
2 Develop thinking skills through making sentences.
3 Checks prior knowledge.
4 Give a chance for the child to express or describe the picture.
5 Develops child speaking skill through describing and sharing answers.
6 Make a link between verbal picture and speaking.

writing the places of the balloon.
Instruction:
Before doing this activity, the teacher must introduce the vocabulary of the
preposition and the using of its. Next teacher models with one student how
they play this activity, after that teacher must put students into pairs one
student have a sheet with complete answers while other students have an
empty sheet.
So the student who has an empty sheet is trying to make sentences guess
the place of the furniture in the room and so on. For example, the student
said, Is a table next to the windows the other response with yes or no then
glue the picture on empty picture.
Each pair continues answering until finish before others pairs in the class. In
the end, both will write the place of the balloon then teacher announce who
is the winner.

Students Level: The activity is suitable for grade three and four and five.
Justification for choosing Activity:
The teacher can make it flexible accordingly to the ages she wants to teach
and the lesson in the curriculum. This activity is fun and interesting activity
because children naturally curious to know what clue he does not know from
his friend? The clue that between his friend hands engaged children in the
group to talk. It keeps children engaged which that necessary due to make
the child interested, have interactive with others which that provides
enjoyable opportunities for the child to communicate. It encourages critical
thinking when children seeking an explanation from the students who acting,
and collaborating with his friends to know the answer.
As a result, it improves their social skills which that are important for
effective speaking skill and feeling safe and confident. A lot of children feel
shame to talk alone with someone but group works engaged the child to talk
and copy others behavior by communicating with them through discussing. A
lot of speaking comes through interacting with others in the activity.
According to Vygotskys theory who supposed that everything a child learns
come through interactions with others, so the language developed in social
interaction, it influences others behaviors, and serves as a guide as to what
to do? (Learning Theories and the Family, 2013)
When the child stops in the front of the class trying to act the cards he has
that makes his group paying attention, which that improves competence and
performance of listening so he can use what he listen to the speaking later.
The picture and acting at the same time gives a meaning to a child, so he
easily speaks and others connecting the acting with the word that they got.
Moreover, using many senses at the same time for instance; speaking and
observing that develop its speaking, verbal, and cognitive skill. As well as it
improves the child knowledge and understanding, the children can predict
things that their friend has. Moreover, it allows the teacher to monitor the
understanding of the children which that shows the level of the child
speaking, and checking prior knowledge. Dont say any words activity makes
the children curious about the things behind the cards that prove that they
love learning.
Objectives of the activity:
By completing the activities, the student will be able to:
1 Identify the jobs and professions name.
2 Follow directions by observing.
3 Increasing the childs interaction with the groups work.
4 Use prior vocabulary.

The purpose of activity:


1- Using acting to make the child get the meaning of the words.
2- Develop thinking skill through guessing.
3- Encourage the child to communicate.
4- Give a chance for a child to express, talk and be more social.
5- Link between what children see and say it.
Instruction:
Instruction:
Prior activity teacher divides the classroom into groups. Teacher makes a list
of words which related to the lesson into the cards with its picture. Teacher
must be sure that all students have an accuracy of the name of the jobs and
professions name.
The teacher will model that by asking one group to guess. For example, the
teacher stands up in the front of the class then takes card has the picture of
the policeman. After that, the teacher acting the role of man while the group
guessing and says is it farmer so teacher makes a sign with her head no
then students try again and says, is it policeman? teacher say: yeah. If a
student who stop in front of the class talk while the group is saying they will
lose point. Also teacher give a student 30 seconds to acting and make his
group understand the word. So students will guess the answer each time
until one group win.

Board game
Students Level: this activity is suitable for three linking to the curriculum.

Justification for choosing Activity:


This activity involves all children in the group which are student-centered. It
promotes the child to talk and communicate which that improve his speaking
skill by repeating sentences again and again. The child feels free to make
sentences that he wants to say, express, and share it with the group. It
could develop child cognitively because child trays to think what I have to
say to my friends? So it is including a lot of repetition that is allowing a child
to focus on the language that is necessary to make listening active then
speaking with the goodwill. Plus, it makes every child prepared himself to
talks and abandons a message for his friend with the aim of to make the
child feel confident, express his feeling, and encourages to talk. Also, it gives
a value for each child in the group so the child will think they wait for me to
talk and wants me so I will do it. Furthermore, it is carrying out meaningful
tasks which that are promoting the childs learning when the child starts to
talk about his favorite game as an example. Moreover, it increases the
number of vocabulary by listening to each other and paying attention
consequently develops children's awareness of themselves and others.

The purpose of activity:


1- Develops speaking and listening skill through looking at the
picture and speak.
2- Encourage the child to talk and participate especially when he
through a coin on the board game.
3- Listening to others and gains more vocabulary.

Instruction:
Prior the activity teacher can show a video about how to play the game. First,
the teacher holds a coin then throws its on a board game, the picture that
appear to her she have to say sentences about it for example the picture is a
mother picture so she says: my mother has black hair. Teacher gives this
pattern to students. Each group has one board game, and then teacher
determine who goes first. After that, each time one student in group throws
the coin on the board game to say a sentence. After that the coin will pass to
all of the students to talk and share the things that they want to share with
his friends.

Role play
Students Level: it could be in early years and primary.

Justification for choosing Activity:


Role play is fantastic method in learning child speaking which is fun,
interested and makes real communication. It is giving a chance for a child to
act out and make sense of real-life situations, develops social skill while they
are collaborating with each others, and encourages children to express their
ideas and feelings in a safe environment. It develops children's awareness of
themselves and others. All of this elements happened through interaction so
that situation is the best way to make child speak and pick up the language
from others. This activity can help teacher to develop other areas for children
like reading, numbers, history, culture and many other areas. Also role play
not forcing child to talk but it desired the child to speak which that important
for child to feel confident, relax, comfortable, and not shame from talking so
it's maybe is successful way for future career of a student.
However, this activity facilitates speaking by providing children with the
story that children concentrate on the subject of the story and understand it
then later to act its. Furthermore, it challenges the student to simulate the
character due to feeling proud of himself and achieve. However, this activity

4- Child will learn to collaborate, talking, and make friendship after
participating in acting.
5- Child will wear some clothes which are related to the story that that
make deep understanding of character role.
Instruction:
Prior start making role play teacher prepared the class by designing it and
putting the pictures, bring clothes that are similar to the character in the
story. After that teacher read a story loudly with full expression, and
changing the voice accordingly to the character. While teacher read a story,
she introduces new words in context realia to use it later in role play. After
reading the story, the teacher chooses small group to act which that make
deep understanding of story. In the end, it is important to give children
encouraging feedback after doing a role-play activity.
