Formation of Nano-Rod and Nano-Particles of Polyaniline Using Langmuir-Blodgett Technique
Langmuir-Blodgett technique
Tm tt: During the past decades the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film deposition process
has been considered by various researchers, as a potential technique for the production of
ultra-thin films with controlled molecular orientation. The aim of this study was explored
the possibility of producing various nano-structures of polyaniline ( PANI ) without the
aid of any templates using Langmuir-Blodgett technique. The paper show effect of sub
phase pH on the evolution of different nano-structures of PANI using Langmuir-Blodgett
technique. Rod like nano-structures of polyaniline of diameter 40nm and of length
400nm, are formed at pH 1. For pH of value 3, the dispersed particle like nano-structures
of PANI of diameter 15 nm. Lump type connected nano-structures are formed at pH 6.
The lump type particle like surface morphology is in agreement with TEM structural
morphology. The result show that different doping induces nano-structures of polyaniline
can be formed by varying the pH of the sub-phase in a Langmuir-Blodgett trough. The
study is of importance for the development of sensors with improved characteristics.
