How to Create an

Effective PowerPoint
Presentation
By, Taylor Schuck

Steps 1-2

1.) The background should have the same theme,

color scheme, and fonts throughout the entire
presentation.
2. Each slide should only have a small amount of words
on it. Too many words makes the presentation less
effective and the viewers lose the meaning and will
not pay attention.

Steps 3-4

3.) Add in clip art and pictures to keep viewers engaged

but they must be relevant to the topic.
4.) Check before you present that your font type is
readable and your font size is not too small or else no
one will be able to read anything off your slides.

Steps 5-6

1.) DO NOT have a large amount of slides. Keep it

simple. The viewers will get lost because the slides
are being switched too frequently.
2.) DO NOT read every word off of the slides. Face
the audience and speak to them.
(They are the ones that you
are talking to after all.)

Step 7

7.) Add in quotes, links to videos, and other

supplemental materials to keep the viewers engaged
as well as have more information that could add to
the viewers learning.

When I was 14 -years-old, I made this PowerPoint

presentation, and I invited my parents into my room
and gave them popcorn. It was called 'Project
Hollywood 2004' and it worked. I moved to L.A. in
January of 2004.
