The Stigma of Muslims in America

In 2001 there was an attack on September 11 on the World Trade
Centers in New York City by radical individuals from Middle Eastern
countries that are prominently Muslim. This was a huge contributing
factor to the stigma in America against Muslims and Middle Eastern
immigrants being terrorists. Now in 2015 we are dealing with the
stigma of Muslims and immigrants because of terrorist attacks by a
radical group that goes by ISIS around the world especially on
American soil. Recently there was an attack in San Bernardino that
lead back to an immigrant that was Muslim and was connected to ISIS
and because of this group the American Muslims and those who are
trying to enter America have become a scapegoat for those who are
radical. As humans we label and judge others by their looks and
religion while also categorizing them into negative and positive groups.
This can cause tension between social and religious groups across the
country and world.
