Objectives
Create an original logo
Efficiently use Illustrator and Indesign
Create consitency betweeen my business cards and letterhead
Process
I first came up with the concept that of what I wanted to do. Then I began creating
the logo in illustrator, I then transferred the design into InDesign. I wanted the
company name to be simple but I wanted it to stand out, so I looked for fonts that
would contrast well with each other to make the name stand out. I didnt want the
color of the cards to be white so I chose a cream color to give the cards that earthly
feel.

Create an original logo

Create consitency betweeen my business cards and letterhead
Process
For the letterhead I wanted to add a watermark but I did not want to use the
entire logo. I added two leaves at the corner of the page extending them enough
so that they could cut out at the ends. I did not want to put all of my information
in one corner because I thought it looked crowded so I decided to place some
information at the bottom of the page in the center. This would still grab the
audience attention, and still look neat and organized.

Brochure
Description: An offset two sided brochure

Date

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130
Ben Pingle
Programs/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives
To let my audience know that there is a company that can help make their holiday vacations
a lot more enjoyable.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):
I first came up with the idea of what I wanted my brochure to be about. Then I decided what
layout for the brochure I wanted. After I came up with these two things I began looking for
pictures of places that people travel a lot to. Then I began working on my logo on illustrator.
I wanted to have a logo that was simple but looked unique and simple enough so that people
can remember it. I used a compass because that to me is a good symbol for traveling.I used
the pen tool and the line tool to create the logo.
After finishing my logo I began working on the design of the brochure. I decided to leave the
front page of the brochure white because I like how there was a contrast between the front
and the rest of the brochure. I place a blue background to add color and life to the brochure.
After I figured out what I wanted the design to look like I stared to work on the text that I
wanted to put into the brochure. I wanted to write text that would attract the audience and
would give them the basic information about what the company was about.

Programs/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives
Use the FOCUS design process with strong focal point and flow
Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message
Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements
Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image
Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scripturesyour choice)
Format type: Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size. Theme word(s)
Select good quality images
Process: I selected the image of the temple from google and I chose a larger image so that I
would not loose pixels. Then I downloaded a texture to place on top of the temple. I chose
two pictures that were related to marriage and masked them so that the edges did not appear and they could fade nicely.
I then chose my quote and downloaded a font so that there could be a good contrast within
the text. I bolded key words so that they could stand out more.

Flier

Programs/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Objectives
Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in
InDesign intact.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I first hand drew the sketches
that I had in mind for this project, then I went into Indesign and started creating
the sketch that I thought would suit best. I used a large black box to help capture
that attention of the audience and then I used faded boxes to help point the reader
to the next main information. I had white space so that the design looked clean
and organized and I wanted to keep the text small yet legible. The information,
logo and image were given to me.
Message: I want the students to have a curiosity of what activity this is, and be
intrigued enough to go.

Programs/Tools: InDesign
Text Wrangler
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML
Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page
Acquire a working knowledge of CSS
Identify hex colors
Process: I created this website using TextWrangler. I have never worked with CSS
or HTML before, so it was very challenging for me but at the end I thought it was
really interesting seeing how you are able to form a website by codes. I used the
colors from my logo and implemented them into my website using the hex codes. I
changed the fonts of my heading titles so that it could have more variation in texts.
