OVERVIEW & PURPOSE


Teaching students the value of money, how to use money, how to recognize different
kinds of coins.

OBJECTIVES
1. Students will be able to determine the value of coins based on their appearance.
2. Students will be able to add coin values.
3. Students will be able to use knowledge of money to purchase items.

MATERIALS NEEDED
1. iPad
2. Coins

ACTIVITY
Describe activity that will reinforce the lesson
1. Students will receive coins from instructors to feel and observe differences between each
coin.
2. Instructors will ask students if they know the value of coins. How do you know it is that
coin?
3. Ask students Do you know how to make 50 cents? How? What about 78 cents?
4. Students will open Amazing Coins app and play for a few minutes and accumulate coins.
5. Instructors will ask how many cents do you have in your piggy bank? Click on the fridge
and buy as much food as you can.
