Music Video Proposal

Name: Jonathan Eley

Band & Track Name: Mosaik: Aerial

Running Time: 1:56 (when edited it brings it to 2:34)
General style of music video:
I have decided to change my music video idea, so applying Joan Lynchs
theory, the style of music video that I want to create is a concept music
video. The chill-out style of music will fit with the concept idea as it works with
more abstract visuals.
It will be an anti-performance music video from reference Jon Gows theory as it
will not involve any actual performing of the song.
From Andrew Goodwins theory regarding music video conventions, I will create a
relationship between the music and the visuals which I am using, I will also apply
a certain music video style which matches the music. Some of the other main
conventions that Goodwin talk of will not be applied within my music video
mainly due to it being conceptual as Goodwins conventions of music videos
seem to fit mostly with mainstream performance and narrative videos.
Railton and Watson name the concept music video as art music video, From
their theory I want to make my video work as a creative expression which will
run alongside as an aesthetic complement to the song.
Briefly describe what will happen in your music video, highlighting camera
angles and effects used. What will we see?

Sped-up traffic using long shot framing

Long shot of Sped-up people walking around the streets
Low-angle long shots of building architecture
Narrow depth of field extreme close-up of plants, rock textures, and
architecture
Intentional out of focus lighting (particularly at night as this is when it is
most successful)
Narrow depth of field close-up of rain on glass
Slow-motion shots of my main character exploring
Through editing I would like to use double exposure, reverse footage, film
burn and hue overlays

Overall my general idea for my music video is that it will explore the idea of
decay and life with a lot of visual matter to do this. Also my actor will not only be
exploring the place around her but additionally my actor will work like a being
who is bringing the viewer of the music video through an experience.
What resources will you need?
Props, styling, location, recording and lighting equipment, actors, etc.:
I will use my DLSR and camera stabilizer.
I will borrow one of the colleges tripods for shots which require more stability or
smooth movement.
