Title Firefighters
Rescue Civilians
Danny Lawson
Context (Where Found / Viewed / Read . . . Variety of Sources, please, vis-a-vis Google Images only)
Content / CD / Summary (Say? Plot? Setting / Situation? Key lines / Phrases, Scenes, etc? )
The photo shows a firefighter rescuing a man from a burning tenement in the UK. The firefighters battled the
fire in a four floor tenement building and rescued many civilians from the burning building. In this photo the
firefighter is rescuing the man from the second floor by pulling the man through the window.
The theme of this picture is bravery. The firemen are brave enough to combat fires and enter burning
structures to help people. Each and every brave firefighter risk their lives by entering burning buildings to
rescue civilians. It is very brave to risk your own life to rescue a stranger.
Form (Diction? Construction Terms? Symbolism?) This section MUST be filled out for poems taken from the AP Poetry
packet provided prior to first library visit.
The picture was taken during the rescue of the civilians. The man getting pulled out of the window is
unaware of the photo. The fireman symbolizes the heroism within many of us and what we all want to be.
Everyone wants to be a hero and rescue others, but we do not always get the right opportunities to achieve
this dream.
Commentary: Why like? Poetic Traits? Relevance / Connections / Allusions (Lit, Bib, Myth, Histor, Other) / Relevance
to personal experience, 20Qs? etc.)?
The reason I find this picture poetic is because it shows bravery and courage from people that are willing to
sacrifice their life in order to help others. Being brave and having courage is quite poetic, when they are used
to help others. I find this picture fulfilling because it shows that there will always be people in the world that
are willing to help others disregarding any sacrifices they might have to make.
