Research similar products and a potential target audience (Existing music


magazines).
Organise actors, locations, costumes, props, & yourselves! (Time Management).
Work on magazine layouts/drafts.
Present the research and planning. (Layout/style of your website).
MAGAZINE PRODUCTS (60 MARKS)

Your front page, contents page & double page spread will be marked on the creative use
of the following technical skills:

Framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate;


Using a variety of shot distances as appropriate;
Shooting material appropriate to the task set;
Selecting Mise-en-scne including colour, actor/models, lighting, props and
setting;
Manipulating photos as appropriate to the context for presentation, including
cropping & resizing;
Accurately using language and register;
Appropriately integrating illustration and text;
Showing understanding of conventions of layout and page design;
Showing awareness of the need for variety in fonts and text size;
Using ICT appropriately for the task set.

Your seven question evaluation work will be marked on how well you demonstrate:
1. Understanding of how your media product uses, develops or challenges forms and
conventions of real media products.
2. How your media product represents particular social groups.
3. Knowledge of what media institution might distribute your media product and
why.
4. Understanding of who is the audience for your media product.

5. How you attracted/addressed key demographic.
6. What you have learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your
product.
7. What you have learnt in the progression from your college magazine to your
music magazine.
8. Evaluations MUST include images/diagrams/links or videos.
Only students who produce work in all areas will have the opportunity to
achieve excellence (and a high level 4 grade). A student who does not
contribute to all areas of assessment will not achieve above a level 3.
