Self-sensing of strain and damage in glass fiber/carbon
nanotube/vinyl ester composites Aim To develop a multiscale composite that can sense its strain and damage. The composite will be specially designed to discern mechanical events occurring at the fiber, matrix or fiber/matrix interface.
Motivation
To prevent catastrophic failure of polymer composites yielding information of the structural
integrity of the composite in real time.
Electrical resistance approach for strain and damage sensing.
