Remember that Prom is a school function, so all Tuscaloosa

County Board of Education Rules and Policies are in effect.

Dress Code- All students attire must be appropriate for a formal high school function.
Jeans are not allowed. Attire with plunging necklines or backs, slits higher than the
knee, and outfits that show the stomach are unacceptable, including those with sheer
fabric covering these areas. Onesies, short jumpsuits, or any other garments that have
detachable skirts are unacceptable.
The principal or his/her designee has the authority to determine inappropriate or
unacceptable dress. When the dress or appearance of the individual student disrupts
the teaching-learning process, the principal has the authority to take disciplinary action.
(from p. 45 of the 2015-2016 TCSS Parent-Student Information Guide)
Anyone who arrives inappropriately dressed will not be admitted to Prom. If you
have a question about whether a garment is suitable, check with an administrator
before the night of Prom.

Arrivals and Departures- When you arrive, you (and your date, if you have one) will
sign in at one of the check in tables, give your admission ticket to a Prom sponsor, and
enter the Prom area. For safety reasons, students are not allowed to leave and re-enter
the Prom area after checking in, so make sure you dont forget anything you need to
have with you.

Attending Prom and Bringing a Date

Paying for Prom Tickets
Any BHS Junior or Senior may purchase a Prom ticket for $30 per ticket beginning
Monday, March 7, and ending Friday, March 25. Late tickets will be sold for $60 per
ticket beginning Monday, March 28, and ending Thursday, March 31. Do not wait until
the last minute! No exceptions will be made, even if you are absent on March 25 or
on March 31.
Mrs. Copen and Dr. Gibbons are the only people who will be selling Prom tickets.
During third period Mrs. Copen (B-202) will sell tickets, and during sixth period Dr.
Gibbons (room B-140) will sell tickets.
You must have your approved Prom Date Request Form signed by Mr. Fitzpatrick
to give to Mrs. Copen or to Dr. Gibbons when you pay the fee for your dates
ticket.

The Date Approval Process

If your date is not a BHS Junior or Senior, you must fill out a Prom Date Request Form.
(This applies to dates who are BHS Freshmen and Sophomores as well.) Prom Date
Request Forms will be available from Mr. Fitzpatrick in the lunchroom during fifth period.
(1) You will fill out the Prom Date Request Form according to the instructions and turn it
in to Mr. Fitzpatrick, who will verify the information and approve or reject your
request.
(2) Several days after you give your Prom Date Request Form to Mr. Fitzpatrick, you will
pick it up from him in the lunchroom. Remember that Mr. Fitzpatrick will require
several days time to contact telephone references, so do not ask for your form until
enough time has passed for him to do this. Because he needs several days time to
contact telephone references, Mr. Fitzpatrick will not accept last minute date request
forms.
(3) If your date is approved, you will bring your approved Prom Date Request Form
signed by Mr. Fitzpatrick to Mrs. Copen or to Dr. Gibbons when you pay the fee for
your dates ticket.
Because the information on the Prom Date Permission Form must be verified, it is
essential that you write legibly and provide accurate information. Double check the
phone numbers before turning in your form! Failing to follow instructions on the
Prom Date Permission Form regarding the copy of the dates picture ID or submitting
inaccurate information will result in your Prom Date Request Form being delayed or
rejected.
Purchasing Formal Prom Portraits
The Lifetouch photographer will be taking formal pictures. Payment must be made on
Prom night when the pictures are taken. Pricing information will be displayed outside of
Mrs. Reynolds room (B-238). From 7:00 until 10:30 P.M. on Prom night, students may
have portraits made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Portraits will be mailed to the school; however, senior students will need to provide
correct mailing addresses in the event that the pictures arrive after Graduation.
Voting for Prom King and Queen
The week before Prom, Seniors will nominate and then vote for the Prom King and
Queen. The BHS administration will screen the academic and disciplinary records of all
nominees prior to the names being placed on a ballot.
Getting Answers to Additional Questions
Administrators and Prom Sponsors (Dr. Gibbons, Ms. Copen, Ms. Crutchfield, Dr.
Aldridge, Ms. Nelson, Mr. Parten, Mr. Blackwell, Ms. Frye, and Ms. Byrd) will answer
any questions you may have.
Deadline Reminders
Remember the following:
(1) Absolutely no payments will be accepted and no new tickets will be issued after
Thursday, March 31.
(2) Prom tickets cannot be purchased at the door on Prom night.
(3) Prom fees are not refunded, regardless of the reason for the request.
