How do cAMP and calcium concentrations regulate phosphorylation sites

of DARPP-32, ultimately controlling dopamine receptor expression?

The brain controls the efficiency of processing information in response to neuronal

activity. The basal ganglia of mammals in their forebrain are responsible for many
behavioral functions related to motivation and reward, including pathological
conditions such as Parkinson disease, Huntington chorea, schizophrenic syndromes,
and drug addictions.
DARPP-32 is one of the proteins that regulate intracellular signaling cascades in
response to neuronal activity.
