Unplug the sensor connector and connect a voltmeter to terminal 1 of the connector.

With the
ignition switch ON , there should be about 5 volts to the sensor.

Turn the ignition OFF . Remove the air flow meter. Connect an ohmmeter across terminals 1
and 2 of the meter.

Use a non-metal tool to reach into the housing and move the vane. The vane should move
smoothly and the resistance should change smoothly. If there are jumps or dead spots in the
vane movement or resistance changes, replace the air flow meter.

To check the temperature sensor, connect the ohmmeter to terminals 4 and 5 and make sure
the air vane is fully closed. Measure the air temperature and check the chart to determine the
correct sensor resistance. Ohmmeter readings should be within 10 percent of specification.
