KEYS TO THE WEEK Thursday Geo Challenge 6 due Friday Spelling Lesson 19 TESTS/PROJECTS BEING RETURNED Spelling Lesson 18; Social Studies Test (on Friday) If you have not yet gotten a chance to take the Catholic Identity Survey, please take a few minutes and do so at http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/0346778 . I know the teacher version of it only took about five minutes to complete, so it wasnt very painful. I will be working with Ms. Brewer and other teachers to analyze the data from the survey, and that process will be more meaningful if we know that many of our families opinions are represented in the data. The big topic this week is the upcoming Catholic Schools Week. We have been busy finishing some projects and hanging our work (and we will be cleaning our desks). We are strongly encouraging everyone to take part in the Catholic Schools Week Mass on Saturday and the Open House that precedes the Mass. Then we have a full slate of activities planned for the rest of the week, which were outlined in the Catholic Schools Week information sent home last week. One special highlight is the Talent Show on Wednesday at 1:30. Even though none of our children volunteered to take part, it should still be a fun experience, and you are welcome to join us in the Rec Center to see all our talented St. Viator students And looking further ahead to the next big thing, we are still accepting contributions towards the classroom treasure project for the Silent Auction at the Masquerade Ball in March. In Math, the children have begun chapter 5. During resource the students are studying solids and graphing data. Mrs. Smith was very pleased with the fifth graders Dr. King essays. This week in Reading, they will read about King Midas and continue to compare and contrast. They continue their adjective unit. If they stay on schedule, there will be a noun/adjective test next week. Mrs. Smith will let the students know the exact date by the end of the week. Spelling Lesson 19 is due tomorrow. In Social Studies, the chapter 4 tests were yesterday. The tests will be sent home Friday. Mr. Slawik asks that you be sure to sign and return after reviewing. The class is beginning Chapter 5. WINDOW ON UPCOMING EVENTS Catholic Schools Week Open House (2:00 to 4:30) and Mass (5:00) on Saturday.
