First, the good news. I would like to thank everyone who has sent in Box Tops for Education this
month. Yesterday, I received a deluge of them. We are already up to 220 for January far better than
our showing in December. So, please, keep them coming!
Second, the not-so-good news. As of when I write this, almost one-third of the Progress Reports that
were sent home last Friday have not been signed and returned. If you still have yours, please send it
back tomorrow. If for some reason you have not yet seen it, let me know and I will email you a copy.
Now, back to good news. For a number of years now, St. Viator School has participated in the ZanerBloser handwriting competition. One handwriting sample from each grade is entered into the national
competition. This year the sample entered from this class was written by Delilah. Delilah was also our
classroom winner in the National Geography Bee and will be competing with students from 6th, 7th,
and 8th grades to determine the school champion. We would like to congratulate Delilah and wish her
good luck at the next level of competition for both of her achievements.

And many thanks for the family who sent in a contribution to support the Classroom Treasure project
for the Silent Auction at the Masquerade Ball in March. Contributions are still being accepted.
In Language Arts class this week, the students continue their adjective unit. Spelling Lesson 18 is
due tomorrow. Remember "Challenge Words" are now being tested. In Reading class, the students
continue to improve comprehension by using the skill of compare and contrast.
In Math, the children are continuing their work on Chapter 4.
In Social Studies, the children are finishing Chapter 4. Geo Challenge 6 is coming soon.
