4th Grade Distance Learners SBAC Testing begins Wednesday-Friday 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm in Computer Lab 54.

CCSD ONLINE REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

Parents, it is vital that you log into your Infinite Campus account and register your students for the 2021-2022 school
year. YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE FOR ALL YOUR CHILDREN EVERY YEAR THROUGH
INFINITE CAMPUS. There will not be a “Kindergarten Round-up” as we typically do, please register your
incoming kindergarten student through Infinite Campus and then call the front office to bring in the paper registration
documents.
Every school in CCSD is mandated to have the distance learning option for the upcoming school year.
HOWEVER…you can ONLY choose this option through Infinite Campus and ONLY until May 21st. After that
date, the option will not be available. There are informational documents within Infinite Campus which talk about
distance learning. Some of the items you need to know as a parent…
 The Principal can deny the request for a student to utilize distance learning.
 Depending on the numbers of students requesting to utilize distance learning, your child could be enrolled at
Nevada Virtual Learning Academy and NOT at David Cox ES.
 Your student(s) may have a teacher which teaches multiple grades/combo classes. There is not a guarantee
that a distance teacher will be available for every grade level.
 Distance learning requests are not able to put in for a teacher request.
 You cannot call into David Cox and verbally request distance learning for 2021-2022, all requests are ONLY
taken through Infinite Campus.

Family Dinner Night at Café Zupas on Eastern from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm

TUESDAY!
Parents Please Complete…Culturally Inclusive School Survey for DMC: Please take a moment to complete the survey for
us. You can find the survey at the following link and it will be open until April 20th: https://forms.gle/7hMhkLCUv7up7NQn8
*Your child can receive 5 extra credit points for you completing the survey, just Dojo a picture of your survey submitted to
your child’s teacher and the teacher will credit the 5 points to their lowest core subject grade.

Summer Acceleration School: Families, every school in CCSD is mandated to offer summer school from June 1st –
30th. A parent survey will be coming home through Parentlink in which you can sign up your student to attend.
Summer school will be Monday-Friday, normal school hours 8:50 am – 3:21 pm with breakfast and lunch being
served. All grades PK-5 and self-contained are welcome to attend. Students will be working on a variety of skills
which provide remediation and acceleration in all core subjects. Summer Acceleration is OPTIONAL for all
students. If your child currently takes a bus, transportation will be provided as it currently is through the month of
June. *Students are not guaranteed to have their current teachers for the summer program.

Milers: Awesome job to the following students for putting in their miles last week: Laya Vinay has completed 185.5
miles! Parents send me the names of your students and their miles completed so I can celebrate them in our newsletter!

Shout Out to Cox Cubs: Congratulations to Eddie and May Vardi for completing their grade levels for the Khan Math
Program! This is very challenging for students! Wow! Way to go Cox Math Cubs!
State Testing for Distance Learners: Families of fourth grade distance learners, we are ready for students to come
in and take their SBAC tests in the computer lab. This week will be 4th grade, Wednesday-Friday, from 1:00 pm-
4:00 pm. Only your student(s) will have access to the labs, will be assigned a specific computer, and testing times
were moved to have the least exposure to other students in the building and after dismissal. Students must wear a
mask and should bring a “snack lunch bag” to have during testing breaks. If you do not want to bring your student
into the building for their state test, please email either myself (Mrs. Imboden) or Mrs. Heinlen the Assistant
Principal or call our front office.

Cox Cub of the Week: Congratulations to the students in Mrs. Stackel’s Class, they did our weekly announcements
and were fantastic! Congratulations to the following students for being an awesome Cox Cub of the week for last

waiting list into classrooms. If you would like your child to return, please contact Ms. Penney in our front office to be placed
on the waiting list and as soon as we have a spot opened you will be notified.
