By using waterline half beam formula y = 0.123(5-x)(x+5)0.5
and submerged depth formula z = 0.02(5-x)(x+5), a table is prepared. Noticed that the maximum waterline beam 2.98m ( 1.49 x 2) is at x = -2m. This value is very close to 3m.
Given block coefficient = 0.4, LWL=10 m, max beam B, is 2.98 m (from
question 1) & draft T, is 0.5m (based on table above). The submerged volume of canoe body is 5.96m3 and displacement is 6109kg.
