Looking for interns to work in Health and Nutrition Unit, SERP, Andhra Pradesh, India

* Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) is an autonomous society responsible for implementation of
poverty reduction projects in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. Currently, SERP is implementing the poverty
reduction project called 'Indira Kranthi Patham' (IKP) in rural Andhra Pradesh. IKP is looking for 3-4 interns to
work exclusively on health and nutrition interventions. For more details about the project please refer to website:

* On a pilot basis, the IKP is implementing community managed health and nutrition interventions in every
district covering 2000 villages approximately. The interventions being implemented by the community are:
o Community managed nutrition cum day care centres
o Community managed health insurance
o Community managed health risk fund for health related emergencies
o Capacity building of stakeholders on preventive and promotive health care
o Communication for behaviour change through community resource persons
o Comprehensive food security programme
* During the internship, the interns are expected to undergo village 'immersion' and get an understanding of the
processes involved in community managed health and nutrition interventions.
* Conduct action research using both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyse and establish evidence for
interventions being implemented.
* Conduct in-depth interviews and also document case studies with the help of translators (provided by the
project).
* Prepare and submit a report on the impact of the interventions being implemented and provide
recommendations to the organisation to take mid course action.
* Necessary support to make field visits will be arranged by the project.
* Internship start date: At the earliest
* Duration of internship: Minimum of 3-6 months.

Interns will be paid a modest stipend and/or free housing and food. This will be worked out on a case-to-case basis
for each intern based on their work profile.
