Notebook 5
I went on to a website called WorldMapper.org and found an issue that was close to my
issue. The world mapper issue was Violent Deaths these deaths included, homicide (murder or
manslaughter), but excluded war deaths. The statistics of the map were recorded in the 2002 so it
isn't very current. What I saw on the map were awkward looking continents so at first glance I
thought ok this is a messed up site, but further reading I noticed the page states that the countries
were enlarged in proportion to violent deaths. I saw that the biggest continents were in the
southern hemisphere more central part of the world. I especially noticed Africa and South
America that were really enlarged. The whole world during 2002 had around 500,000 violent
deaths but in India and Brazil alone there were 57,000 deaths alone. This would tell my audience
that there is murder everywhere and that America is not the only place with violence issues.
