The diagram above gives a visual picture of the professional communities I am

connected with as teacher and in my professional responsibilities. as Careers
facilitation and Pastoral Care.
Two professional connections that have a big impact on me are my ESOL faculty within
the school and the Mindlab community outside the school.
As an ESOL specialist, my core teaching areas play a significant part and it is a
satisfying and passionate task to upskill English skills in migrants and refugees. This
professional connection links me to ESOL online community which keeps me up to date
on professional discussions and outcomes. Linking and being an active part of the
community gives opportunities to network, discuss issues and best practices.
Transition to 21st century teaching and learning has been a challenging move with the
technological aspects and new classroom trends such as integrated learning. A potential
community that I would like to continue being part of and develop strong links with is the
Mind lab community. I am presently part of the Google+ Community for July 2015
Intake, and the discussions and posts seem to be providing with immense opportunities
for growth in digital and collaborative matters in teaching and learning. I strongly
believe: It is not I dont know. I will give it a try (Growth mind set poster Freebie, Tales
from Miss D). It is my determination to do my best to employ strategies to develop a
growth mindset in myself and my students
