Dear Parents and Guardians:
We are writing to let you know of two incidents that happened this morning. Two female
students, in separate incidents were approached by a man who offered them a ride. The
driver was described as a black male, approximately 40 years old, bald, driving a black
four-door sedan. One of the girls did obtain a partial license plate number.
These incidents have been reported to the Irondequoit Police Department and the police
are conducting investigations.
Please take this opportunity to remind your student of the following safety precautions.
For instance, please suggest that they:

share with you what they know regarding how to deal with strangers;

walk to and from school with a friend;

run the other way if they encounter a person who causes an uncomfortable
situation;

go to a safe place such as the home of a friend or a public place such as a

store;

inform a responsible adult as soon as possible;

if your child carries a cell phone to and from school, IPD advises that you
discuss guidelines for calling 911. You might suggest that they:
Make sure they are safe / Call 911 / Call you.

We felt that it was important that you be informed about this incident. Thank you for
following up at home. As always, please feel free to call school if you have any questions
or concerns.
