Media- the main means of mass communication (television, radio, and newspapers)
Audience- the assembled spectators or listeners at a public event such as a play, film, concert, or
meeting
Box office- used to refer to the commercial success of a film, play, or actor in terms of the audience size
or takings that they command
Conglomerate- a company that owns numerous companies
Media consumption- the sum of information and entertainment media taken in by an individual or group.
It includes activities such as interacting with new media, reading books and magazines, watching
television and film, and listening to radio.
Patterns and trends- similarities and re-occurring factors in box office data
Audience behaviourMedia ownership- who has the rights to have the specific piece of media, usually split with multiple
individuals or organizations.
Media practiceTechnologies- electronic and digital equipment what is used to create media
Production- the time frame in which media is created in, starting from the initial planning to the final
product
Distribution- the action of sharing something out among a number of recipients
Marketing and exchangeInstitutionLocal- throughout towns or cities i.e London or New York
National- throughout a whole country i.e. Britain or America
International or global- worldwide
Hardware- tools, machinery, and other durable equipment used to create a film or piece of media
ContentPlatform- where and how the media is shown
ConvergenceCross media convergenceSynergy- where different entities cooperate advantageously for a final outcome
Technological convergenceTent pole film- in broadcast programming and motion pictures, a tent-pole or tentpole is a program or
movie that supports the financial performance of a movie studio or television network. A tent-pole movie
may be expected to support the sale of tie-in merchandise.
