    ENTRANCE TESTS

    AgBr is used in photography.


    Cobalt is present in vitamin B12.
    Chloroform (CHCl3) is used as an anaesthetic.
    Iodoform (CHI3) is used as an antiseptic. Its antiseptic

    action is due to liberation of free iodine.


    Buna S is a synthetic polymer in which S stands for
    styrene.
    Caprolactum is a starting material for Nylon 6.
    Aspartame, sucralose and saccharine are artificial
    sweeteners.
    Barbituric acid is a tranquilizer.
    Chloramphenicol is a broad spectrum antibiotic.
    Ore of iron haematite (Fe2O3), magnetite (Fe3O4).
    Ore of copper chalcopyrite/copper pyrite (CuFeS2),
    malachite/ basic copper [CuCO3. Cu(OH)2]
    Ore of aluminium bauxite (Al2O3. 2H2O), corundum
    (Al2O3).
    Molality doesnt depend upon temperature, thus it is
    used for measuring concentration of a solution.
    The 4 colligative properties are- relative lowering of
    vapour pressure, elevation in boiling point, depression
    in freezing point and osmotic pressure.
    Lead storage battery and nickel cadmium cell are
    secondary batteries (cells).
    Galvanization involves coating of zinc on iron sheets.
    Radioactive decay is a first order reaction.
    Concentration of sulphide ore is done by froth
    floatation process.
    Monds process is used for refining of nickel.
