You don't have to know about ballet to enjoy it, all you have to do is look at it.
Edwin Denby
A surreal sight on stage as I was immersed to the ballet world during last
nights show; surreal because the whole show feels so encrypted like trying to
decode a cryptex like what is happening. Those two eyes suspended while the
performers danced made me think that maybe that stage was the inner workings
of the creators figment of imagination. The show itself, the dances, the stage, the
music, choreography, props (albeit freaky) and the visual effects and
presentations were spot on, but I had difficulty in trying to comprehend on what I
was watching. After every intermission I ask my girlfriend on what happened. We
laughed because both of us were left in awe and clueless.
In trying so hard to conceive on of what was happening I really paid
attention to the show. Its seems like the mind of the creator is full of emotion and
things holding the creator backhaving two lovers, one of the same sex and one
of the opposite, trying to fend off his emotions and choosing to stay with the one
who the creator really loves. The performance was full of emotions and
constraints on the mind of the creator that probably made him crazy. During the
latter part of the show, there was a lady lying lifeless in what appears to be an
operating table. As a result of her sudden death I was even more puzzled with
her death. Why death?
In the end did the creator die or his dreams did. Maybe the message that
was trying to be imparted among the viewers like myself is that death is
permanent. We must embrace death and not be afraid of it. Everyone dies.
Ballet is not new to me as I have watched recitals of my sister before, but
the Ballet Philippines performance brought a whole new meaning and depth to

my understanding of the art. Ballet feels unique. The dancers or anyone can
express things through dance that you could never express in word, and ballet
has the knack to touch people on a profound, conceptual levelI think this
applies to all forms or genre of dance and is not limited to the elegance of dance.
