It is anticipated that the child will explore the use of playdoh to create
creatures and explore the colors and materials

Materials

Playdoh (blue, green, yellow, red)


Pipe cleaners (blue, green, orange, pink, purple, yellow)
Pompoms (all different colors)
Googly eyes
Safety sissors

Part 1
Beginning
I would engage Child S by asking her what she thinks I have in my bag
for her.
If she doesnt have a guess ill take out one item at a time and tell her
what I have

Middle
This activity will support active learning because I will be providing
Child S with a variety of materials for her to choose from.
Labelling language This playdoh is squishy!
Non- verbal expressions matching facial expression to how I think the material
feels
Open-ended questions What will happen when we mix the playdoh?

Part 1
End
Give Child S a warning that her bed time is coming up and she
has to wrap up the activity
Okay Child S, its almost 8:30! You have to get ready for bed soon!
I will leave the materials with you mom so you can play with them
another day!

Part 2: Anecdotal # 1
11/28/14 Child S (6.9). Child D was sitting on the
living room floor with the observer. Child S picked
up the red playdoh container and said I like the
red playdoh!. Child S asked the observer Which
colour do you like?. (Cognitive Language) Child S
grabbed the red playdoh with her right hand and
used her thumb and fingers of her left had to open
the container. She then pinched the playdoh with
her left hand to take the playdoh out of the
container (Physical fine motor skills)
11/28/14 Observer F (20.4) Observer F was sitting
on the living room floor next to Child S. Observer F
replied to Child S and said I like the blue

Part 2: Anecdotal # 2
11/28/14 Child S (6.9). Chid S removed
the playdoh from the container and
placed the container on the living room
floor. She then squishes and stretches
the playdoh. (physical gross motor
skills)
11/28/14 Observer F (20.4). Observer F
now sitting across from Child S asks How
does the playdoh feel? Child S says It
feels weird and squishy! (Cognitive
Language)

Part 2: Anecdotal # 3
11/28/14 Observer F (20.4). Observer F
asked Child S I wonder what would
happen if we mix the playdoh together?
11/28/14 Child S (6.9). Child S says If
we put blue playdoh and red playdoh
together it will make purple! I love the
color purple! She then takes the blue
and red playdoh from the floor and mixes
it together.

Part 2: Anecdotal # 4
11/28/14 Child S (6.9). Child S took the
yellow playdoh and started to roll it on
the floor with her hand. Child S said Im
going to make a snake! (Physical Gross
motor skills)
11/28/14 Observer F (20.4). Observer F
picked up the pipe cleaners and said
Should we give the snake a scarf? Child
S said Yes! I will make a pink and purple
scarf. Child S then twists the pink and
purple pipe cleaners together. (Physical
Fine motor skills)

Part 2: Anecdotal # 5
11/28/14 Observer F (20.4). Observer F
asked Child S Is there any other animals
that we can make with the playdoh?
Child S answered Yes! I want to make a
duck! (Cognitive Language)
11/28/14 Child S (6.9). Child S takes the
playdoh and uses her fingers to model
the playdoh into the shape of a duck.
Child S said Im going to cut the orange
pipe cleaners to make feet for the duck.
(Physical fine and gross motor skills)
