Mini-teaching episode write-up

Objectives: Identify the three main acts that the British Parliament implemented
on the colonists and recognize why the colonists rebelled.
Process:
Formative Assessment: Name the three acts implemented by the British Parliament.
Why did the colonists rebel?
Introduction/Hook: How many of you have had an allowance? What were the terms
of your allowance?
When you were punished was the allowance lowered? Has your mom/dad taken
away your allowance?
Steps in the Lesson: Split students into groups-British Parliament, Farmers, Soldiers,
Merchants and Government Officials. Hand out fake currency. Collect taxes.
Closure Activity/Wrap up: Explain the three acts and how that related to the taxes
collected during class with a PowerPoint and lecture.
Summative Assessment: Out of the door ticket handed out during the formative
assessment.
Improvement Strategies: Make the money hold more value to the students to fully
experience colonial life.

Kinesthetic learners: physically exchanging currency
Visual learners: understand with the PowerPoint
Auditory learners: absorb the information the most during the lecture after the
exercise with the PowerPoint

assessments and speaking during the lesson
