The Antillean people traveled and eventually the horned Iberian Cattle and their
cattle mated

The long horned cattle populated California and Texas as free range animals
By 1860 4 million to 6 million of these cattle roamed Texas

selection to develop hardiness, disease resistance, ease of calving, strong
mothering instincts, and other traits vital to their survival.
In the 18th and 19th century the commercial use of longhorns were mainly to
supply hide
Had cattle drives to take them state to state
Drives allowed cattle to care for themselves
In the northern climates Cattle Tick Fever caused many deaths of the longhorns
The immune system of a longhorn allowed them to survive the fever and that hurt
cattle that werent immune
There was a large decline of longhorns (man-made) for this reason
Millions of longhorns were slaughtered and used for commercial uses
In 1927 they were an endangered species and congress established purebred cattle
to protect
One herd was taken to Wichita mountains refuge which is where the original
family WR come from
In 1964 a registry for purebred Longhorns was created.

This source was very in depth where longhorns are now, along with a history of
