PRESIDENT OF GERMANY
BACKGROUND:
Germany is a republic with a
parliamentary democracy and
a bicameral system of
government. The federal
legislative power is controlled
by the Bundestag which is
the Parliament of Germany
and the Bundesrat which is
the representative body of
Germanys regional states.
The political system is
outlined in the 1949
constitution.
FEDERAL PARLIAMENT
Another name for the federal parliament is Bundestag. It is made up of
representatives that have been elected by the German people. The main
responsibility of the parliament is to create and and pass legislation, approve
the national bedget and to determine the deployment of the German military.
Elections for the federal parliament takes place every four years.
