GOVERNMENT SYSTEM OF GERMANY


Federal Government
The German Federal Government is a republic with a parliamentary democracy. The parliament,
or the Bundestag, is made up of representatives elected by German citizens. They in turn vote

Chancellor
The Chancellor of
Germany is elected by the
Bundestag and exercises
power as the true head of
government. The current
Chancellor is Angela
Merkel.

President
The president is also
called the
Brudesprsident is
elected by members of
the Bundestag and is the
head of government for
mostly representative and
ceremonial purposes, but
does not have any real
power. The current
president is Joachim
Gauck.

parliament to vote on the final outcome. The Federal
Council, or the Bundesrat, is in charge of creating and
improving legislation.
