Behaviors Practiced in Guardian ad


litem
GALS apply their knowledge of human behavior, and the

social environment daily through engaging clients in their


home settings, their schools, and their communities. GALs
must be aware of the people and events significant to the
client.
For some attending church is very significant, and a major
aspect of their identity. For others it is their relationship with
their coach, or teacher that plays a key role. Some clients
live in rural environments and others in urban areas. All of
these aspects shape the clients perspective and worldview.

Behaviors Practiced in Guardian ad

The use of reflection and empathy is vital in the role of

a Guardian ad Litem.
It is necessary to ascertain what is important to the
client, and this is best done through reflection and
empathy;
This activity means a lot to you and That must be
very difficult for you
Statements such as these, helps the client open up,
and demonstrates strong positive regard for the client.
