Have your partner read all of your sort words to you
without you seeing them. As you hear the words being
read to you, point to the sort header you believe matches
that word. Your partner will place the words facedown
under the sorts you choose. Once all the words have been
read, flip them over and review the words to ensure they
are in the right place. If there are any wrong, write them
below.

Find a book and read. Record any words you find that are
in your sort this week. Be sure to write down any words
shared in the group review that are not already on your
list.

The Baseball Game


Materials: Word sort words, Post-It notes, pencil.
Pair up with someone who has the same sort at you.
Instructions:
1. Identify who you are playing against above the games below.
2. Player 1 reads a word from the word sort to player 2. Player 2 spells
the word out loud or on a dry erase board. If player 2 spells the
word correctly, he/she will move to first base and circle the base. If
wrong, he/she cannot move.
3. Player 2 then reads a word to player 1 and the game continues on.
4. See how many runs you can get in a single game (how many times
your reach home).
5. Use a different color of pencil crayon every time you reach home.

6. Write down any words you get wrong below.


7. Game is over when you have used all of the words in your word sort.

Instructions:
1. Choose a partner who has the same word sort as
you.
2. Place all the words face down on a desk or table.

3. Player 1 chooses 2 words and read them out loud.


4. If the words chosen are from the same category, they
are a match and count as a point for that player.
5. If they are not a match put them down again and the
next player takes a turn.
6. Write your matches below.

Buddy

Blind Sort

Similar to the Buddy Sort, you and partner will take turns
reading the sort to one another. However, instead of just
pointing to the category the word fits into, you will be
writing the word under the correct header. Once all the
words have been read, you and your partner will review
your words to ensure they are all spelt correctly.
