Title

The title of this researsch is “The Use of Comic and English Movie in Improving the

Students Vocabulary”

2. Research Question

The research question of this study is “Is There Any Significant Improvement of the

Students’ Vocabulary Through the use of Comic and English Movie?”

3. Hypothesis

There is significant improvement of students’ vocabulary under the using of comic and

English movie

4. Procedure ( Methodology)

4.1 Subject

The Subjects of this research are class VIII 1 (use comic) and VIII2 (use English movie)

in SMP Negeri 1 Bau-Bau. Consist of 38 students in class VIII 1 (20 females and 18

males) and 36 students in VIII2 (19 females and 17 males). The writer prefers the

level of class because the two of classes have a high homogeneity between them.

4.2 Variables

 The independent variables are comic and English movie

 The dependent variable is students’ vocabulary


 The intervening variable:

 Media (LCD, laptop, speakers, comic)

 Instructional materials (vocabulary and Grammar)

 Teacher

Overall the teacher when he/she in class VIII 1 and VIII2 is same,

actually the way of she teach. In VIII 1, the teacher use comic while in

VIII2 the teacher use English movie.

 Time

4.3 Instrument

The instrument which is used in this research is the matching test. This is the most

often used for vocabulary test. It’s important to know if the answers come out even,

if there are more items in one column, or if there is more than one correct response.

This test consists of 10 numbers of questions. Beside that the instrument that is

used is MCQ test which consists of 20 numbers of questions
