Production Meeting Minutes

Members of production team present were:

Props

Mao masks a discussion between GS and PG needs to be had to


finalise the decision.
Further discussion to be had about the animal masks.
The plaster of Paris Buddhas, we will go ahead with the idea, the
plaster will need to be thinner than what we had in rehearsals and
we will need 2 per show.
The wine glasses used will need to be changed for plastic ones,
these might be changed to tumblers, but PG and GS need to decide
this.
The china tea cups do not need to be plastic.
MR to look in props store for a wine bottle, if not an actual wine
bottle will be used.
GS, PG and MR to discuss possibly attaching the type writer to the
stage and how the other 3 will be moved about the stage.
The type writers need to be black.
Another discussion is to be had about finalising the props list and
this will need to be sent out, one will also need to be sent GS.
We need an Umbrella, a cake on a plate for scene 7.
There is concern over how the props are getting on and off stage,
we might be having holes in the back of the benches to place props
and costume in.
GS and PG need to discuss the box that gets destroyed in scene 8.
A cigarette case, lighter and rolled cigarettes are required.

LED strips around the set, a discussion needs to be had as these


might be cut.
There was concern over how much of the action takes place on the
floor and how LX will cover this.
A blackout will be required for scene 27, the execution.
PG would still like to use the disco ball.

Set

Monitors will be required for the July rehearsals, roughly 5-6 needed,
1 of these need to be in the space under the set.
A plot is to be done for camera and monitor positions.
We need to test the live feed in July so a camera and monitor will be
required.
We do not require a projector until we get into the theatre.
Will and Gabby to discuss what material we project onto, canvas
was an option.
A discussion is to be had about when we will get in all of the AV
equipment and how long we need to hire the equipment for.
A list is to be made of the props required for filming.

The set is currently not finished, we are still missing pieces but
these will be in rehearsals for July.
A doorway is to be added into the set where the hole currently is.
We are still definitely having the frame on top of the main structure.
Possibility of have some extra smaller boxes added to the set.
MR and GS are to work on Google sketch up to finalise how the
frame will be put onto the set because of trip hazards etc.
Possibility of painting the upstands on the set grey, so the cast can
see clearly where the edges of the set are, also marking out where
the exits are for the cast.
Discussion to be had between GS and PG about chalk vs. chalk
pens, which will look better on the set and which will look more
effective.
We have chosen the Matt Varnish finish for the set.
The set is very loud when the cast are moving all over it; can we
insulate it at all or place layers between the 12ml Ply MR to sort
this
The marching band will only be on the Down Stage arm of the set.
A rehearsal is to be scheduled for the cast to practise the lifting
section on the set, this will decide if we will continue with the
choreography or if it will need changing.
Costume

The chorus shoes are now available; the cast need to try these on
to make sure they are comfortable enough to wear for the show.
There was concern over the white costumes getting messy with dust
etc. during the show but PG is fine with this.
A paint trial weekend needs to be scheduled, costume are to trial

paint powder beforehand.
It has been decided that Mother will not wear heels.
The cast need to trial the jackets in rehearsals, this to
be scheduled in, PG and GS need to discuss this.
Loose clothing such as scarves and hats will be needed for scene 7.
A sunhat and glasses is required.
Stage Management

General

MR to discuss the floor in the rehearsal room with Dave Flinn


KM (LX) would like the extra bits of text added into the score to be
sent to her, e.g. the party scene.
A mapping out of where the audience will move is to be completed
by PG and GS.
Wireless Coms will be needed for plotting and technical rehearsals
MH is to edit the rehearsal video and send it out.
In future rehearsals a rough schedule is to be made and sent to the
designers.
