Basic Format (Single Author)

Format: Last name of 1st author, first name of 1st author in initials, & last
name of 2nd author, first name of 2nd author in initials, year of publication,
title of book, edition, place of publication, publisher

Note the use of ampersand (&) instead of and


E.g.: Cox, R. C., & Gould, M. H. (1998). Civil engineering heritage:
Ireland. London, United Kingdom: Thomas Telford.

3-7 Authors
Same format as when referencing 2 authors
Use of commas to separate author names and ampersand before the last
authors name

When making an in-text citation, et al. is acceptable but not for reference
lists

E.g.: Hall, C. M., Timothy, D. J., & Duval, D. T. (2007). Safety and security
in tourism: Relationships, management and marketing. Mumbai, India: Jaico
Publishing House.

8 or more Authors
List the first six authors' names in the same manner, then add ellipses and
finally the last author's name

No more than seven names


E.g.: Barrett, J. M., Smith, V., Wilson, R. T., Haley, V. A., Clarke, P.,

J. L. Green, G. Camilli, & P. B. Elmore (Eds.), Handbook of

Different Editions
Format: Last name, initials, year of publication, title of work, edition
number, place of publication, publisher.

Only when referencing an edition other than the first
