Kyler Williamson met with Mrs. Hunt, the grandmother and caretaker of a child he visits. During the meeting, Mrs. Hunt made a comment that implied having a child out of wedlock was shameful, which the child's mother disagreed with, noting times have changed. Key value differences included social norms from Mrs. Hunt's upbringing and her religious views versus more modern perspectives. As this was a regular home visit, no formal recommendations were made.

Grandmother/ caretaker of one of the children that I visit.
Background
I didnt really have any biases because I talked
to her during a child visit so I didnt know what to expect.
What biases did you have
before going into the interview?
Ms. Hunt talked about how back in her day it
was a disgrace for a woman to have a child and not be married (in front of her daughter that had a son and wasnt married) The mother of the child argued that times have changed and its common for women to have children and not be married. I dont think that women that have children outside of marriage are a disgrace.
What were some value
differences between you and the client?
Social norms of the period that she grew up in.
Religious views: she stated its Bible Internalization of the social norms.
What life experiences have
shaped them into the person they are
Since this was just a regular home visit, no
recommendations will be made.
