The Robeson County Guardian Ad Litem program serves 314 children but only has 42 volunteer advocates, leaving 222 children without representation. To address this, the agency partnered with 25 local churches to recruit more advocates by speaking at churches or having members volunteer. Letters and follow-up calls were made to 15 churches initially. Unfortunately, these efforts were not successful in recruiting new advocates. The agency would have benefited from starting recruitment earlier and making more direct contact with church members on weekends when people are available.

Facts
One word: RECRUITMENT
How do we combat this
issue?
We contacted 25 local churches to
see if we could either speak at their church or see if members of their congregation would be interested in becoming a volunteer advocate.
Partnership with local
churches
We initially researched 15 local
churches. Sent out letters to the churches Called every two weeks or so to follow up If they werent interested then we replaced them with another church
Process
We were not successful in our
attempts to recruit new child advocates.
Outcome
Started earlier: we were given a month to
complete it but when no one responded the deadline was extended. No one was at the churches when we called so not a lot of contact was made with the individuals at the churches. Attempted contact one weekend because no one is there during the week.
What we could have done
differently.
Luckily, youll be in Pembroke getting
that MASTERS ! You can become a volunteer and the voice for a child.
