Candidates utilize digital communication tools to communicate locally and globally
with students, parents, peers, and the larger community. (PSC 3.7/ISTE 3g)
Artifact: Hillgrove High School AMDM Blog
Reflection:
The artifact for this standard is the website I have created for the AMDM teachers at
my school. The goal in creating this website was so that students and parents had a
resource to review the content taught in this course.
The AMDM website was created as a way to communicate to both students and
parents enrolled in the class. The website contains the content from the different
units taught as well as the materials used to support those units. There is a page
on the website that is designated as the teacher page which is password protected.
There is content modules and communication tabs. The communication page is the
contact information for the teacher via email. It allows parents to communicate
with the teacher and to keep up with what their children are doing in class in a daily
basis. The website also contains videos and keys to worksheets used in class. The
keys are very helpful for the students when they are reviewing for tests. It is a great
place for resources for the students, parents, peers, and the larger
community both locally and globally. The creation of the website has created a
sense of accountability among teachers making sure their classes are aligned with
one another. The teachers have access to a communication and collaboration
tool.
I have learned a lot from creating this website. It has helped me remain organized
for the resources available to the students. Building this site from the beginning
has taught me the intricacies of the site which allowed me to learn how to trouble
shoot issues as they arise. In the future, I plan on making a few changes to the site.
One is having a folder for released test questions either from the EOC, SAT, or ACT.
I think it is important for students to have a resource for these high stakes tests.
The work in maintaining this website has definitely positively impacted faculty
development within the math department. It has helped teachers remain in daily
contact with the parents. It has also helped with collaboration among teachers. As
each subject in the math department has maintained a website. The students and
their parents love the access to the site.
