Candidates model and facilitate effective classroom management and collaborative learning strategies to maximize teacher and student use of digital tools and resources. (PSC 3.1/ISTE 3a) Artifact: Multimedia Design Project Reflection: The multimedia design project was completed for ITEC 7445. The purpose of this project was to create a student-centered project based on a Webquest. A constructivist approach was used where the students worked collaboratively together. The reflection is a summary of how this artifact meets this standard. The Webquest involved students working in groups of three and would use a clinometer to discover the heights of objects around campus. The groups would learn how to solve trigonometry problems working collaboratively. They would be responsible for their own learning. The design of the Webquest was for the step by step modeled assignment. The website served as a modeled road map for the students, which allowed me to act more as a facilitator. The constructivist approach and adequate planning was essential to ensure classroom management. The math lab report was written to clearly identify the roles throughout the project. This allowed students to know what was expected from each group member and held that group member accountable. Each stage of the project was meticulously planned out; therefore, the students were able to implement the lesson seamlessly. From creating this lesson, I learned that careful planning was essential for classroom management for this type of project. It took a great deal of time and energy, however, Im very happy with the results. In the future, Im going to let the students choose how to present this project. Hoping some groups would choose to video their work. This artifact impacted student learning making them more responsible for their learning. The authentic learning strategy made it more engaging and fun for the students. The students had to work collaboratively together and the project was technology based. This artifact contained both content and technology standards in the rubric.
