Peter Broughton supply produce to over 60 food co-ops across South, Mid and West Wales which has helped
secure 3 jobs at their depot. Jimmy Borg (picture above) is the Catering Manager and oversees all of the food co-ops.
This large wholesale fruit and vegetable business operates from The Wholesale Fruit Centre in Bessemer Road,
Cardiff. Peter Broughton Ltd have been in the trade for over fifty years and supply some of the top restaurants,
hotels as well as establishments such as schools and nursing homes.
A wide range of produce is offered and in recent years, have created a stir fry bag, stew bags and mixed bags as a
result of food co-op feedback, actively sourcing Welsh produce from farms across Pembrokeshire and
Monmouthshire. Some of these farms are growing exclusively for them, producing Welsh grown cherries and plums.
As the number of food co-ops has increased, they are able to accept Healthy Start vouchers linking in to food
poverty agenda. They also support food co-ops to become more sustainable, for example, by recycling and reusing
packaging, by linking with other organisations theyre resource efficient and provide access to local welsh produce.
We are pleased to also tell you Peter Broughton Ltd have just received an award from Food Awards Wales for
Fresh Produce Provider of the year 2016. Congratulations!

GROW YOUR Community Food Co-op: Top Tips


Adding additional produce to your co-op list has proven to support community co-ops to become
more sustainable. Why not speak to your supplier and see if they supply eggs for example?

Getting more customers will support your co-op to become stronger. Do you advertise your co-op
locally? Do you link or advertise your co-op with other local organisations? Is there another event you can
link to your co-op such as mother and baby groups, digital sessions, coffee mornings, meetings?

Peter Broughton Ltd.
Mae Peter Broughton yn cyflenwi cynnyrch i dros 60 o gydweithfeydd bwyd ledled De, Canolbarth a Gorllewin
Cymru, ac mae hynny wedi helpu i sicrhau tair swydd yn eu depo. Jimmy Borg (yn y llun uchod) ywr Rheolwr Arlwyo,
ac ef syn gyfrifol am gadw golwg ar yr holl gydweithfeydd bwyd. Maer busnes mawr hwn syn gwerthu ffrwythau a
llysiau yn gweithredu o The Wholesale Fruit Centre yn Bessemer Road, Caerdydd. Mae Peter Broughton Ltd wedi
bod yn masnachu am dros hanner can mlynedd, ac mae'r cwmnin cyflenwi rhai or tai bwyta ar gwestai gorau, yn
ogystal sefydliadau fel ysgolion a chartrefi nyrsio.
Mae ystod eang o gynnyrch yn cael ei gynnig ac yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf, maent wedi creu bagiau tro-ffrio,
bagiau stiw a bagiau cymysg ar l cael adborth gan gydweithfeydd bwyd. Maent wedi chwilio am gynnyrch Cymreig o
ffermydd ledled Sir Benfro a Sir Fynwy. Mae rhai o'r ffermydd hyn yn tyfu cynnyrch yn arbennig ar eu cyfer nhw, er
enghraifft, ceirios ac eirin.
Gan fod nifer y cydweithfeydd bwyd wedi cynyddu, maent yn gallu derbyn talebau Cychwyn Iach, gan gysylltu eu
hunain r agenda tlodi bwyd. Maent hefyd yn cefnogi cydweithfeydd bwyd i fod yn fwy cynaliadwy, er enghraifft, drwy
ailgylchu ac ailddefnyddio pecynnau, a drwy gysylltu mudiadau eraill maent yn bod yn effeithlon gydau hadnoddau ac
yn sicrhau bod cynnyrch lleol Cymreig ar gael i bobl. Maen bleser gennym roi gwybod i chi hefyd fod Peter
Broughton Ltd newydd dderbyn gwobr gan Wobrau Bwyd Cymru am Ddarparwr Cynnyrch Ffres y
flwyddyn ar gyfer 2016. Llongyfarchiadau!
