State Learning Objectives

Given a periodic table, students should be able to identify the basic components of
the table, such as atomic mass, atomic number, and chemical symbol.

SMART Board, Google Spreadsheets, Internet

Differentiated Instructional Strategies


ADHD students will sit at the front of class, and the hearing impaired student
will receive a printed copy of the lesson plan.

Utilize Media & Materials


Day 1: With the aid of the SMART Board, the teacher will discuss how the periodic

table works, and what the different symbols and numbers on the periodic table
represent.
Day 2: A review of the information discussed on the periodic table, to evaluate
students retention of information. There will also be a brief lesson on how to use
google spreadsheets.
Day 3: Students will work with a partner and select which element they want to
research, and sign up for it in the classroom Google Spreadsheet with everyones
names on it. They will begin researching their element.
Day 4: Students will share their element on the interactive Periodic Table on the
SMART Board, and view other peers projects.

Require Learner Participation


Students will answer questions and learn material required by the Ohio Department
of Education, create a project and present their information to the class, and
collaborate using Google Spreadsheets.

Academic Content
Presenting information about the students elements will demonstrate their
ability to identify the names, symbols, and numbers on the periodic table.
