Presentation Guitar 30
DUE: Friday, April 8, 2016.
This presentation is to be a self-guided, project-based learning experience for
the students in the class who are at the 30 level.
The student will pick a topic of their choosing (in consultation with the
teacher), and will over the course of the History of Rock and Roll unit prepare
a presentation for the class. This presentation will be similar to the lectures
presented by the teacher and will have all the same elements (see below).
This learning experience will take the place of the journals in the grading
scheme and will be worth 40% of the overall unit mark.
The student will be required to come to class, check in, attend for the
introduction and housekeeping, then is to proceed to the library and check in
with the librarian to do research. The student will return to the class for the
playing portion (time to be provided to student each day), as the student will
still need to do the
demonstration portion of the unit.
The student will need to provide a draft of their research and presentation no
later than 2 days before their presentation in conference with the teacher
to ensure that all elements are covered.
The research and presentation must include:
Political and social historical background of the time
What the trends of the genre/musical style are
Who are the influential artists of the genre/musical style
What are the demonstrative songs of the genre/musical style
What is happening musically in the song
What are the connections between the historical background (political,
social, musical) and the style/piece.
