Classroom Learning Environment

o Orchestra and band share the same room
o Practice rooms and offices are located inside the band room
o The chairs were set up
The teacher reviewed matched group and traditional grip
The students were asked if they practiced the rudiment exercises during spring break and
most of them said they did not
The teacher reviewed marking tie while playing
The teacher used repetition
The teacher had some classroom management issues
o One of the students started eating crackers during class
o One of the students started texting in plain sight
The teacher did not help those that were having issues
o He continued to help those students that were not having much trouble
He rarely visited one side of the classroom
I did like how the teacher brought his own materials to the class
The teacher reviewed accents, the speed and power, and rolls
The teacher demonstrated the proper way to play different exercises and how not to play
