Lesson Objectives:
1. Students will comprehend verbs and adverbs with 90% through discussions and
foldable
2.

Materials Needed:
Pencil/pen
Projector
Balloons

Children have trouble focusing on their own selves
Given the chance will not do as instructed

A. The Lesson
1. Introduction (5-10 minutes)
Grab your foldables
Ask the class what they think a verb is but, do not write it!!!

o Now what I want you to do is make two lines splitting the bottom half into 3 parts

2. Content Delivery (25 minutes)


(Balloons are already blown up and have phrases in them)
Today we are a game of charades with a twist
o You will be split up into 2 teams and compete
how you play it ( have it written up on the projector)
o 1 person will come up to the front
o They will have a balloon
o They will pop it (yes pop it)
o Then a phrase of action will come out and you will act it out
while you are acting it out your team will be trying to answer
this action
o once they have gotten it right write it on the board
o you will have 3 choices to put this word in
past
present
future
o you must decide if that word is past, present, or future
o You will write it down and the next person comes up
You go back to the end and guess for the next person
o The next person can then either erase and move that word or pop a
balloon and act out the action
o You get a point for every action your team gets and for every correct
placement of the said action

3. Closure (5-10 minutes)

Stop the game!


o Talk to a team about the words on the other team
o Tally up point to see who won
Have students write down at least 2 words in their foldable under each
section
o Once shown can go line up for lunch
