Tucson, Arizona 85716 February 25, 2016 To Whom It May Concern: Macy Dailey has been an outstanding student in three advanced level classes. Macy attended these classes while attending the University Of Arizona College Of Nursing in pursuit of her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. None of these classes were required for either her employment or educational program. Macy first attended a basic EKG interpretation class. Once she had successfully completed that course Macy then completed both Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses. During these sessions Macy proved herself both a diligent and excellent student. She mastered the content while asking thoughtful questions demonstrating an understanding of content beyond the level required for course completion. I found this impressive for someone who had yet to begin a professional nursing career. However, I found even more impressive her ability to act as a member of a team. Whether in a support role assisting the team leader or functioning as the team leader herself, Macy remained calm, professional and unintimidated by those with more experience. Her knowledge, critical thinking and respectful approach to communication truly enhanced the patient outcome in simulated scenarios within the ACLS and PALS environment. When I discussed with Macy why she was taking these non-required classes she expressed a desire to begin the practice nursing within high-acuity areas. While she voiced recognition that all areas of nursing require specialized knowledge and skills, she described herself as someone I would consider most closely aligned with nurses practicing within either the Emergency or Critical Care departments. She thinks quickly, is willing to question her perceptions when confronted with conflicting data and is willing to question, respectfully, the perceptions of others in the interest of enhancing patient outcome. Additionally Macy is already considering her path for graduate level education. I believe she would be an asset to any area as a new graduate Registered Nurse. Sincerely,
