Visual &Performing Arts Reflection
After reading from the visual and performing framework, the knowledge that I need to
teach visual and performing arts in an elementary classroom are learning how to write music
notes, know the vocabulary used in theater, know about the different art tools, and their names.
My ART 301, MUS 101, and HUM 312 have prepared me in the areas of visual and performing
arts. I really enjoyed my ART 301 class because my professor taught me so much, from the
names of brushes to different art techniques. I believe that the areas of visual and performing
arts that I feel well prepared in would be visual arts because I learned many things in my ART
301 class. Before taking that class I did not know that I was capable of painting and drawing so
beautifully, which made me feel so great and proud of myself. I feel less prepared in dance
because I do not feel that I could remember dance routines very well and I feel silly when doing
different arm and leg movements. The artifacts or work samples that I plan to share in my
portfolio would be a painting that I did of the ocean and a charcoal drawing I did of planets in
space. My work samples demonstrate my knowledge and learning in visual arts because they
show that I learned two very different art techniques. These work samples connect to my
learning and personal experience in the teaching and learning of visual and performing arts
because it shows that I obtained art skills.
